When it rain it pours!

So my front driver side brake was dragging, it happen once before...
I figure spend the $45.00 drop a new caliper in and life is good.

Now here is what happens.

I jack up the truck and notice my ball joint is missing a boot and that it looks beaten up, now I am doing ball joints driver side and caliper, as I go about the process I see that my rear seal on the wheel bearing are not looking all that great...
From a $45.00 job I spent $200.00.
New ball joints all around, U-joints, caliper, bearing seals, now I just ordered my tie rods inners and outters, $150 more....

By Super Bowl I will have almost rebuilt the intre front end....

HOw is everyone doing?

All of the parts for replacing everything from the pitman arm out to the wheels were only $95 here.

I did basically the same thing to my truck last weekend...not a fun job.

I couldn't get the nut off of the lower ball joints due to everything spinng (they were really bad), so I cut the nut in half with a Dremel with a carbide burr. I really wish someone would have reminded me to keep the castle nut on the upper ball joint, 'cause the knuckle fell with such great force on my leg, that I let out a scream and created a few new curse words!

My wife, the ever loving creature she is...laughed her butt off at me!!

I know how that goes. New rear shocks on my girlfriend car ended up being new springs all around, shock mounts, shocks, struts, tie rod ends, ball joints, drivers half-shaft, sway bar end links front and rear, and on wheel bearing....

I think everybody experiences the time when a $20, 1 hr job turns into $200 weekend job.

Well, I have a cracked windshield on my truck that I'm worrying about. I don't have the money for that at the moment. I found out my truck has been burning antifreeze lately so I'm guessing either the radiator or the water pump....Let's see what else can happen before I get enough money to fix!

Iv been doing the same thing, but i tend to do it in steps, which means every time i decide that i should go ahead and fix it, i have to pull everything apart, again, 3 times so far. Tomorrow is balljoints, and that should be it. Ill have a completely new front end.

This reminds me of the time where a 1 min unclog the toilet deal turn into a $400 entire week deal.

But that's how it goes with cars!

You mentioned truck burning antifreeze. My sons chevy malabu is blowing antifreeze out of the tailpipe when it first starts till it warms up. The car is using antifreeze as well by blowing it out the overflow tube. It's been nothing but trouble and has my mechanic stumped. How did you solve the antifreeze issue?
Thanks

Pshhh... Your lucky. That's nothing compared to my luck this year...

water pump, timing cover(2 gasket jobs later I find out its cracked) power steering pump, radius arm bushings, transmission problems(MLPS),blown subwoofer, fog light bracket broke.

The worst I lost my job right before all this happened..

But things get better. Truck is back to 100% (minus stereo and $1100) Now I just need to find another job.
