Quick 5spd trans question

I had my truck in the shop last week getting a clutch and slave cylinder put in. I looked at the trans today ans noticed theres a big oval opening in the side and i can clearly see the clutch and slave cyl. in it. i was just wondering if there is supposed to be a plug or something over the hole.

there is a plug that can cover the hole, and I believe it is best to have it there, but it won't kill things to have it missing. Around $20 for all the rubber plugs at the dealership.
