I just purchased a 95 f250 5 speed PSD. While I am more than thrilled with the truck, I have a couple questions.
Does anyone know of any tricks to calm down the suspension? It's a lot better than my 1997 reg cab f350 but not as good as my 00 excursion. I don't need the load capacity in the f250. I think it has an RSK front kit with a SD Dana 60 from an 03.
I have seen VelVet ride shackles and stuff like that but does anyone make replacement springs that will maintain the current ride height but would perhaps have a less load rating that could perhaps give a better ride. I also have airbags in the back and new Bilsteins. I have stock size BFGs ATs too.
I dont do much hauling or towing so yes, this is way more truck than I need. I am willing to admit that . But besides the ride, this is the ultimate truck.
Depending on what code your springs are, you might be able to find a lighter load (softer) spring code and install them.
I may try that. Its a 250 but I have a Dana 60 in the front and springs from an 03 SD. The front springs are pretty thin compared to the OEM 250 TTB springs which were pretty much an inch thick and there were 2 of them. The rear has factory springs and a 4 inch Icon block. Since we got about 10 inches of snow, the added weight in the back makes it ride like a Lincoln so I may deflate the bags a little when its empty.
My springs are V code up front (standard for the diesel). IIRC they are only 3 or 3 1/2 inches wide. The do look narrow compared to the rest of truck. They sit a little arched upward which looks weird and makes it look like they are weak or failing, but the are rated for 5200lbs each, which is more than enough to support my 4400lb front end.
