Overhead display

Does anyone on here have any experience with their overhead display crapping out? Mine died and to me it seems like a loose wire. Anyone know how to pop the cover off that display without breaking it? Thanks!

It's been posted on FTE seveal times... dont spend any money on ebay! There are a few surface-mount resistors that break loose and have to be resoldered. I did mine recently, it was very easy if you know how to solder (which I'm not very good at).
Search for "trip computer" or "overhead display" in the superduty forum...

Yep, I had this happen on another vehicle and thats exactly what it was then, I can imagine with the rough suspension it is more common with the X......

Fixed it!

Well its all fixed. Getting the console off was probably the hardest part. Its just clips holding it in and you just need to apply firm pressure to get the thing off. Next, I soldered the two resistors back up and voila! Saved over $400 and will never have that problem again!

Update

Just an update. The thing failed again. I pulled it out again and realized my soldering was sub-par! Ha! Lifted the resistor, made a nice puddle of solder, and pressed the resistor back into the puddle. Now the display is nice and bright. Now to get the compass working 100% again. It seems a little mad at me? Yes, I reset it and drove in circles in the parking lot. I guess it just needs time to find its brains again!
