what transmission would be behind a 4.6 liter 5 speed truck?

any um... upgrades for them? I hear there a crappy trans.

I do plan on taking it down the 1/4 mile once in awhile.

I think that earlier F150s could use a ZF -- probably the later ones can as well.

However, it is $pendy.

I don't know that the Mazda tranny is all that bad. I think it's somewhat light duty, but I don't know if the 4.6 would kill it on the dragstrip.

My 89 broke the 1st/reverse gear, but that was a known problem, and I believe that it was upgraded.

truck wouldnt be haulling just drivin around town with the occasional strip usage
