Good Morning..

Air filter and straight through exhaust, those would be the two items I would recomend
The air filter is a NAPA 6637, you will need some PVC, and couple of hose clamps, or you can order a complete, no nonsense kit for 69.00 from riffraft.

The straight pipe and fittings will run you about 30.00

well if you dont want to drop alof of money id say straight pipe. id say turn the fuel up on it but i think its all computerized. if you had a later model you could literaly turn some bolts for more fuel but not on a 99. everything else would cost come $$ im sure these other guys can help a lil more than me haha

Well you could unplug the wastegate on the turbo so you would gain a few lbs of boost on the turbo, you could also do the 10k mod and get a little more power. Thats all that I can think of right now, but there will be more to chime in. It is definitely worth the money to invest in a chip from Dp

Welcome to FTE.

You can't get much more power without spending a couple k $. You should get 4" exhaust, intake, and gauges before the chip. But if you can't buy the chip yet, I would save untill you can get the supporting mods out of the way.

Here is a picture (click for larger view) of the 10k mod from my Webshots album. The reed type relay was used to "turn on" the resistor by using the idle validation switch as a trigger. This prevents the rougher idle and only activates the 10k when on the throttle.

This is not exactly what I was talking about, but it will give you an idea,
What most of us have used was a 3.5" ID 4" od PVC coupling. You can insert this into you intake tube and clamp it, and then purchase another clamp, and insert the tube into the 6637.

Just buy a TYMAR Intake, it comes as a kit and is a really nice setup. U dont have to drive around and piece together an Intake.
