different tires

i was just out airing up the trailer tires and noticed that i have two different type of tires, the 2 on one side are D rated and the 2 on the other side are E rated, not to mention the tread patterns are totally different, what do i do if anything?

Could i swap a pair and have one of each on each side, would that help?

I'm sure you know that the best thing would be to replace with a matching set.

But short of doing that, and assuming the D rated tires are sufficiently rated for the load, I think I would leave them on the axles where they are.

The biggest concern I have is the different pressures needed to handle the load. Most E rated will be max 80 PSI, and most D rated will be max 50 or 65 PSI. So when you are checking pressures, you will always have to remember that issue. Personally I like to run trailer tires at or near the max PSI, no matter the load, because there are no handling issues in doing so and the tires will run cooler. But I'm not so sure I would run a D and an E combination with both at max. Maybe you would want to run the D at max, and figure out the pressure needed on the E tire to match the D rating.

Whatever you decide, I suggest your write the pressure on each rim right next to the tire stem, so you will know what is needed at a glance. I do that on mine, with a felt tip pen.

Interesting question.

Probably more important is to make sure the tires are the same size. Not quite as important as on the truck, since there's no differential on the trailer, but might cause some weird handling.

sizes are the same, just seemed like i should have the same treadpattern/load rate on each axleya know, then i wouldnt have 2 D's on one side and 2 E's on the other. i know i should get a matching set but these are brand new. i cant believe i never noticed, i havent had the trailer long.

o'yea the trailer is 5,000lbs

Since tires are the same size, you should be fine. I think I'd swap a couple tires so both D's are on one axle and both E's on the other. That way you've got the same carrying capacity on both sides. Probably doesn't make a difference really, just what I'd do. And the D's are plenty heavy for your trailer. Is this your 1st camper? We've got a 97 Mallard and love it. I mean there's some things we'd like to have (like a slide-out) and we always go to the RV show and drool over the new stuff, but we enjoy what we have now and take it out as often as we can. Maybe we can get a MD chapter camp trip GTG this summer.Sorry!
