i haven't even tried to remove it yet because i bought a junk truck with a perfect dashpad and i dont want to ruin it. do the screws on the top have to come out or does it just pop off?
There is about 12-15 nuts that hold the pad to the dash. Youre going to have to take inst. cluster and glove box out to get to them all. Ive taken 4 out and installed 2. Its a little frustating and cramped but Im glad I did it. Not the hardest thing to do.
The screws on the top do not come out. All the nuts are underneath the pad. I had to remove the cluster, head unit and glove box. Dont yank on it bc you probably missed a bolt if its not budging.
Theres ten (3/8 or 5/16 )hex / crown type nuts holding the pad on; all are access as you guys mention. You will even have to remove/lossen the duct work if you have a A/C dash. All the nuts face downwards towards the floor except one nut dead between the radio facing & glove box door; if I remember right. I recommend removing your old pad and then remove the other one; that way you have a layout of the bolt position and havn't damage your good one. Also if I recall they run in pairs; like two to the side of the dash bezel; then two opposite side of the bezel; glove box the same and two center as mention between radio & glove box door facial. I use a 1/4 6 point socket set; both deep well & regular.
Hope this helps.
There is also one nut facing the front of the truck in the center of the dash pad. Once you see how they come off, it's not so bad. The screws from the top hold the metal dash not the pad. Took me forever to figure it out in a junk yard last summer. Cut up my arms pretty good, but did get a nice dash pad for $30.
I just looked at jc whitney, they don't have a picture.
Can you take a picture of it?
and lets take this to pm, I don't think fte is much for dealin in public.
