Has anyone installed a propane injection system on there truck if so how do you like it and has it increased mpg quiet a bit like they claim. Matt
DON'T DO IT!!! i can't take the time for a great explanation right now, but propane will screw your engine up pretty bad due to preignition. in otherwords the propane ignites faster than the diesel does so it throws everything off. if you want to inject it with something your better off using water/meth if your wanting a little mileage or more power or nitrous if you just want power. thing about water/meth is you gotta turn it off and run the truck for 5 minutes or so(preferably driving) before turning it off or you risk still having water in there when you try to start it again and of course rusting if you don't run it for a little while w/out water before shutting it down.
i prefer to not inject anything except lots of diesel and get 20+ mpg.
I thought that some company came out with an all computer controled injection kit that was supposed to make it almost fool proof. And just cuz you can throw a boat load of fuel at it and still get unbelievable fuel milage with you light little 2wd truck and you manual transmission doesn't mean you have to rub it in all of our faces! lol

my dads crew cab 2wd dually w/ an auto and 4.10 gears has gotten a best of 19mpg??????
hmmmm... and you get what for mileage???? is it worth it? i'm never going to use it b/c of what i have read about it and i'd rather use nitrous on the drag strip anyways. LoL.
I use it just to gain on a complete burn of the #2.
Keeps the oil cleaner.
Bill
so how much mileage did you gain? JW.. if i were to do pain then i would do it just like you are. doesn't it preignite like i have read or no??? i'm wondering if wut i have read on it is correct and i know you would know! haha
There is a small gain but cannot say how much.(mpg)
I have nothing to compare the pain tune to.
Its ruff to judge on cost effective also. #2 is/has been
3 to 5 dollars a gal. My pain tank will last for over 5 to 7K miles.
22lb? You never know how much they fill it.
My Pain is only active above 10psi boost.
My motor also is a splitshot with no intercooler.
Okay.
I thought of this at one time for my gas truck as well.
Anyways.
Propane injection is only good in our trucks if you use it for what bill is doing. complete burn, which means your not really seeing any performance gains.
The other advice i got from Tim on the setup for a PSD is that you should never do a home made kit on a PSD. Our injectors are too sensitive, and your likely to blow a tip if you over fuel with the gas.
And even with a pre-setup kit, he didn't recomend it at all. He said you can do it, but you have to really know what is going on.
I get great fuel mileage in my truck 16+ easily. I havn't counted it really, I just going by hours/tank and how much fuel i use on certain trips. I've increased mine with the injectors and tuner greatly.
My front end is out of alignment too, and my tires are f-ed up.
I dont use the water because i have no where to install
a tank big enough so the water and fuel gets filled at about
the same time. I have a 46gal tank #2.
The water is good for keeping down the egt when throwing
fuel at it. The water will slow the rise of the egts. It cannot
bring the egt down.
Water injection and hydrogen injection peppers the turbo blade.
(non intercooled)
