So I found a good donor truck to fix my 85. It is a 86 F250 that I picked up for $400. The body is a pos but it has a good strong motor and a smooth shifting t-19. I blew the head gaskets in my 85 so rather than fixing the heads I figured I would just pull the motor out of the 86 and put it in my 85. I also want to covert my c6 to a t-19. On a scale of 1-10 how hard will this be? Would it just be eaiser to take the body off my 85 and put it on the 86 frame?
Both has the same wheel base so everything will swap over real easy. Both have the same glow plug setup so you can leave the wiring on the motor and just unplug the harness.
Nope changing the pedal assembly will be about as big a pain. I would pull the tranny first don't try to pull them as a unit.
While you have the pedal assembly out look closely at the stud that connects to the clutch rod and the rod itself as these tend to wear also the plastic bushings in the pedal assembly itself. They are cheap and easier to replace while it is out.
More than likely on the standard cab there has been a reinforcment plate added use this on your cab to keep it from cracking from the force of the clutch.
Forgot to add, some of this stuff can be done ahead of time, swapping in a pedal assembly with a clutch pedal for example, just means the extra pedal is there, but ready for the tranny swap for example.
