received my FTVB two weeks ago installed it that night and was totally disapointed. 1-2 shift was stock like and 2-3 was driveshaft breaking. so i got a hold of gregg and told him what was the problem and he said it was most likely a sticky spring. so a week later i received a new one from him put it in and holy f4cking ****!! this thing is awesome! 1-2 is spot on 2-3 is spot on even 3-od shift is better. there is almost no shift delay dont ask how he does it because the two valve bodies look the same, trust me i looked. i havent towed yet maybe ill load the trailer just for fun and see. one thing that doesw bother me is that on wot runs 1-2 shift actually chirps both rear tires, now i read allot of comments on the valve body and guys have said that yes the 1-2 will do this but i have a little 5.4 i hope its safe for my drivetrain in the long run but i dont do it very much at all so it should be ok. all in all after the first little problem i am very pleased with this and would tell anyone who is doing power upgrades to get one.
no $230 but close enough, but you have to look at it like this you get a reworked valve body even though i looked for like twenty minutes and cant see any difference between stock and greggs one, and you get the sonnex spring kit and greggs new stainless bore sleeves plus after reading his writeup on upping pressures destroy your trannies and now if i ever save the money i can supercharge my truck and not be worried about it. Install took me two hours only because i installed the valve body, cleaned the filter screen, installed diesel manors bypass tube delete kit and did a complete tranny flush(by my self i suggest you get a friend to help) and im **** about my truck so i triple checked everything. one thing it says to get a inch pound torque wrench but 90inchpounds equals 7.5 ft lbs so i just used my 3/8 ft lb wrench and set it to 7.5 and i was good to go. Oh and one more thing i had my drain pan but after getting covered the first time i got a big piece of cardboard and put on the ground and i bought a cheap throw away rain jacket cuz everything drips all over you when your under the tranny just a heads up
nice. sounds pretty easy, ive always done mark k.'s tranny flush by myself .. always easier for me although i like working by myself better. do they reccomend tuning with the vb or is just the valvebody going to show me lots of improvement?
suzuki0702 you are suppose to use stock shift and pressure points with the ftvb. i have a couple hundred miles now and i love it!! at first normal driving was real stiff but it broke in i guess now and its down right beautiful. but when i let her loose she barks everyshift and the power stays with the shift not like that junk super crap i have that lost power with every shift and had to rebuild it everytime
