Really? So that kit I was looking at may not be bad? Cuz 199 bucks for the whole kit is one heck of a deal.
Oh also Jim what color did you get? I was thinking the tinted or black. Just curious what you thought was the best choice.
I got Black for my truck and Tinted for a Customer. They look the same when they are one, but when off the Tinted look all solid, can't read anything so it's up to you.
I can't beat that price but I can match the $200 deal. It's a heck of a price for sure.
I don't know Jim, I have no personal experience so your word is better than mine. I was just passing on the information that i had been told over the past year or two.
On a side note... It's kinda creepin me out that the add right above the quick reply box at the moment is a glow shift add lol
I noticed that too!!! I thought that was weird too. But I think this site does that because the thread about lift kits had a JC Whitney ad that has to do with lift kits.

Personally I just don't like the "tuner" look. Same with some of the Autometer series.
Let me know if I can help you choose a set-up that works for you.
What kind of a deal can you get? I really want three gauges, but to be totally honest I have been leaning to the Dipricols due to the price. I like to keep my gauges all matching and OEM looking... one of the selling points that made me get a Tekonsha P3 trailer brake controller because it had a green screen upgrade. Thanks!

Throwing around the terms "cheap" and "inexpensive" are tough to differentiate sometimes. Are GlowShift Cheap or Inexpensive? I say inexpensive.
I am satisfied with my research and decided to install some in my truck (haven't yet) and sell them based on all the positives I have heard. Hopefully the bad past is behind them. I don't think they can be as popular as they are today if they still made crap.
Sure the ISSPRO or Autometer or whatever can hold up in a BAJA 1000 race, but I see no reason even the cheap sunpro won't last a long time. I have a set I installed in my old chevy back in '88. Truck has been parked for years but I bet the gauges are fine.
And like Clay said, some people prefer a different look. The consumer has options.
Hey Jim, has Glowshift changed any within the last 6 months or so?? If not Glowshift still = crappy IMO. my brother has them in his sled truck(got them late last year) and the kit SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! nothing they sent with the kit would work with his truck. needed different boost line(not to mention how bad their boost line sucked anyways), fuel pressure guage was a PITA to get installed w/ multiple trips to home depot required before we got the right stuff to get it to work..... just a horrible install experience. Dan has the same ones my brother got and he said a couple of his already went out in his sled pulling truck already(not a daily driver). so IMO glowshifts aren't very good especially when you compare them to my ISSPRO install. my ISSPROs were a ton easier to install than the glowshifts were and no boost leaks or fuel leaks when we got done with the ISSPROs like we did with the glowshifts. with the glowshifts we were leaking boost and fuel. boost wouldn't read more than around 10psi b/c of the leak. fuel leak was bad, but we got it all fixed eventually.
All in all i don't know if Glowshift changed to some better kits or not, but they are a PITA or at least they were for us. last set i will consider helping with an install on.
Jim and Clay are both great guys to deal with BTW. i'm not sure if Jim can get ISSPRO or autometer, but thats my recommendation by far over the Glowshifts. Just my .02.
The EV2's, as long as you dont panic like i did, install so easy.
Just plug in the probe and run the wire into the cap.
then just hook up the power for the gauges, and the dimmers, and run a ground.
That's it.
Done.
Just put them in to the pillar and your done
they are small, light and built well.
The pillars are actually too big for the EV2's, their body size is so much shorter than the older mechanical gauges, they will fit in tight spots.
BTW, anyone seen blue mule lately? He seems to have disappeared.
I jumped around with the same questions in this thread and decided on the Ev2's, and while other gauges look "prettier"
thats not the point.
The point is to get what is gonna work, and gonna last.
So my needle is a bit diff color, oh well. I can fix that with a few light bulbs in the cluster to make mine more orange again. (faded from tenn sun)
When it warms up again. I'll write my IssPro install guide so everyone knows whats going on. I just to embarased to finish the install with my pillar setup. I hate it, and the colors is wrong.
I'm going to build a custom pod for the dash and put them in there. I actually finally decided to stick them over in the corner by the pillar.
I wanted to put them on the other side above the idiot lights, but, thats a bit more wiring then I want to deal with.
Thanks for the input Travis, I always want to hear about this stuff. I'll keep what you said in mind when I do mine.
I guess installs don't bother me cuz I have 20 years worth of odds and ends in small pins to handle just about anything.
Yes, I can get ISSPRO and Autometer. Can't go wrong with Autometer, IMO. But I got ISSPRO over 2 years ago and cant stand them, can't wait to try the GlowShift. What ticks me off is what I paid for them to start with, and then the dam curved glass I can't even read them. I've hated them for over 2 years now.
Anyway maybe I'll change my tune but I'm all for tryin.

Which series did you get? EV ? Because the EV2 and Performax have flat glass. Just curious.
I've got the performax with flat face and they've actually been very easy to read. I've been pretty happy with them. I plan on adding more later - and like how easy it will be to do that... not to mention that they can be moved and swapped for each other since they run on a common network line.
Install seemed a bit intimidating when I started out, but wasn't bad at all. Should be a few guys with different gauges at the Socaps meeting this weekend. I can try to remember to get pics of different setups if it'll help you guys. (Although I'm pretty sure there are at least two or three existing threads about nothing but pics of gauges )
