Hi, I am new to the site. Been awhile but back in the day I had a 73 f100, a 79 f100 and a 79 f250. Been wanting one ever since, this time a 4x4. So I found a 76 f100 with a 4 speed and a 360 (my 73 had one too). I hope I havent bitten off more than I can chew but I hope to make this a sharp looking rig. What do you all think of it? I know it looks rough but Im just as proud of it as I would be a 2010!
welcome to fte.
looks like a nice solid start, around here a truck like that would be consisdered to be mint.there is still sheet metal below the door handles, not just a grass.
very nice truck, good luck with your project.
$2500, I dont think I paid too much as she runs pretty good and the pretty painted ones that I have seen online fetch anywheres from 5- 15 grand. I wanted one that wasnt hiding 20lbs of bondo. a/c needs work and needs interior, trim and paint obviously.
I really had my heart set on a 79 sb xlt lariat a/c (in retrospect I think I could live w/o a/c) with a C6 but the ones I could find were either rust buckets, bondo buggys or too expensive. I'll never forget the one that got away; I was 16 or 17 back in the early 80s and a guy was selling a 2 tone blue (dark metalic on top and bottom, baby blue in the middle) 1979 sb 4x4 xlt lariat, auto, 351m, all the bells and whistles. I wanted it so bad I could taste it, $5000 sounded like a million bucks at the time, way outta my ballpark. Some ******* kid got his Dad to buy it for him and of course ran it into the ground. Here I am 25+ years later still wanting one, lol, I guess it gets in your blood.
that sounds like a good deal...it looks worth it in the pictures...and yea most of them pretty ones look nice but id rather one like that
so ur not to scared to drive it lol
im gonna restore one of mine to show quality. but its not gonna stop me from drivin it through mud holes, and down two-tracks, and loadin my kill in the bed.
Welcome to FTE. Nice looking truck to start with. Your story sounds alot like mine. I bought my 79 Last spring after wanting one since high school (Class of 85). Enjoy.
