Does anyone know if the clutch can be changed on our trucks without being up on a lift. Will driving the front tires up on ramps give it enough height to drop the transmission out? I hate to pay someone 500 to 600 dollars to change it when I know I can do it myself but I don't have access to a pit or a lift.
Anyone know how much the 5 speed weighs? I don't have a transmission jack either but I may invest in a good floor jack with a transmission adapter to do the job.
Good to know. The last transmission I changed I just used a floor jack and a nylon strap but it was a Mazda trans out of an 89 F150, much lighter and smaller. I will defiantly have to get a bigger floor jack though.
Ok, you got my attention. My 93 needs a new clutch, I was thinking of going w/a kevlar clutch. Anyway, I have replaced clutches before, not too difficult of a task, but not for the faint at heart either. My clutch is going to run me 700 bux, includes the flywheel that can be turned. Same issue, I don't feel like bucking this thing around, especially w/a transfer case. I have always removed the tranny on trucks past. How can I do this to my 93 so I can save myself 450 in labor?
