While driving at any steady speed I push the gas peddal down it gives me very little power...after a few seconds the RPM revs up and I get a huge surge of power. I replaced my throttle cable because it was stretched out to hell, I was thinking oh this must be the issue not enough air/fuel mix not the problem.
The reason I suspect the cat is because haynes manual states: "Another sign of decreased engine power is hesitating or bucking when the driver tries to accelerate".... The cat is stock from 2001 and the emissions test paper was forgery from the previous owner.
There is a valve on the back part of the passenger side fuel rail where you hook up a pressure gauge. I'll have to try and dig up what the pressure should be.
EDIT: Engine off key on should be 38-40 lbs. Engine running at idle should be 28-30 lbs.
