I'd get a 600 cfm 4bbl carb, shift kit, tranny cooler, dual exhaust with cast iron manifolds(they last longer than headers) and 3.73 to 4.11 gears. I have a 2bbl 390, C6, cooler, dual exhust, and 3.50 gears and pull a 3000 pound boat with no trouble.

I had a 460 in my ' 78 F150, and in totally stock condition with 3.50.1 gears and C-6 trans it was very.very powerful, and very fast, this was a Supercab, with a factory fiberglas topper, so it was plenty heavy, every time you stood on the Motorcraft 4300 4 barrell the whole suspension would lift up, and the truck would really scoot, plus I used to pull a 48' 3-car trailer with a ' 79 F250 and had plenty of power with same engine & trans, so your 460 MUST be worn out!!
