I have a question for yall. I have a 1996 F350 crewcab 4x4 longbed. I have owned the truck since 96,000 miles and now currently has about 145,000 miles. I do all my own oil changes and have used Valvoline Max-Life 5W-30 with a fram high mileage filter. I change the oil every 5,000 miles and have recently purchased Valvoline Max-Life FULL SYNTHETIC 5W-30, that i plan on using tomorrow. I have put Restore with CSL in every time i have changed the oil with no adverse affects. i noticed quite a difference the first time i used it but now its negligable. It says on the can that it is compatible with synthetic oil and i wonder if any of yall have any experience with it or what you would do with your truck. Thanks for the help.
CSL=Copper Silver & Lead, so why in the world would we choose to pour into our engine, a product with those metal particles in it, the very things our oil filter is trying to remove.
Notice it says to shake thoroughly before using, because those particles settle out in the can, so how do we shake up our engine to redistribute the particles after they have settled out over night????
How do we suppose the particles know not to clog up anything important, or not displace engine oil between bearings, or other close tolerance parts, or not to fill in the cylinder wall cross hatch????
Also notice they specify using it with a new oil filter, so a used filter that's more efficient at filtering, because it's largest pores are already plugged up some, won't finish clogging up & go into bypass, if we use Restore with an old filter????
Not one manufacturer world wide uses this product as factory fill, nor specifies it for scheduled maintenance.
Use it with your synthetic oil if you like, but there isn't anything in Restore that our engines or oils need!!!!
I agree completely with Paw Paw. There is nothing in Restore that any engine needs. Stick with a quality oil, with the recommended viscosity such as 5w30 ow 10w30 and you will be fine. Use the correct Motorcraft Oil Filter as well with each oil change.
Nothing like pouring in liquid FIX in a CAN. Too bad more people don't know about this, mechanics would be unemployed & dealerships would be selling new cars & FIX in a CAN. We could save Billions of dollars on repairs.
I wonder if my "check engine soon" light will go out which is throwing a timing issue code on my Blazer. Will it correct itself with Restore.
I'll head to the store tomorrow & report back.
