Removing the Air Pump system

I've removed the air pump from my 76 F-100 (360). I want to remove the rails that feed into the exhaust manifold from the pump assembly. Would it cause any problems just to take them off and plug the openings with bolts? What's the best way to remove these assemblies?

If you have removed the air pump, the system is rendered useless anyway. To remove the pipes, you will want to wire brush the nuts and spray penetrant for a couple of days before doing the job.Lightly tapping on the nuts with a ball pein helps also while waiting. Most of these holes can usually be plugged with 1/4" brass pipe plugs.
Good luck,
Phillip

Yeah, I echo what Phil said, but for an added measure, a high temp sealer made by Permatex added tothe brass plugs will ensure leak proof
plugs and lock the plugs in place. Also, check your local DMV emissions laws for inspection purposes-if it's rendered inoperative, mucho bucks to geet it working again.
