whato do first to my excursion?

I am new to the forum and to my excursion. Actually, I am picking up my 2000 limited diesel 2wd excursion next weekend. I have already been trolling the net for upgrades. The truck has 135k, an edge attitude programmer, fabtech 4" lift, and a new tranny from ford. I have been looking at a diamond eye 4" turbo back exhaust, but I am concerned about interior noise. I put a magnaflow on the suburban I have now and the drone on the highway was unbearable. 75% of the time in driving I have my wife and kids with me, they dont appreciate the sound as much as I do. I have also been looking for used B code rear spring to install and removing the lift blocks. How much does the ride suffer from adding the stiffer springs? Would I be better off with radius rods and a sway bar, and would these work with the lift bocks. I really dont care if the lift stays or not. Thanks for the advice ahead of time.

How much if any off roading are you planning on?

Or is this mostly a highway cruiser/hauler?

Check to see if it has an anti-sway bar. I would do that first. I used Hellwig. I believe I got it from JC Whitney.

MBRP makes a nice exhaust system. Sounds nice and doesn't rumble in the cab.

Highway, although I may park in the front yard from time to time when its dry. No offroading. I have no need for the lift, but the guy I'm buying it from sold the stock front springs. I am wondering how it would sit with rear b code f350 spring and the fabtech front? Seems like I am understanding from searching on the forums that the fabtech 4" lift has 4" front springs and a 1" rear block and produce a level stance. Also read the b code rear leafs add 2"-3" of lift, so adding the b codes with the fabtech front springs should leave it slightly higher in the rear, right?

You need to get a good quality set of HIDs. Check out my photos for an idea of what they will look like. Second you need to make sure the windows are pitch black. Have fun and enjoy the new beast. Welcome to the forum.

I had aftermarket hid lights in a car before and hated the beam pattern, couldnt see any better than with the stock bulbs. Not what I was asking about anyway, but thanks for the advice. Would a 4" turbo back exhaust be better than a walker btm replacement.

Are these just new bulbs? Or an entire system? Did HID come on your '05?

yeah its the entire system with the ballasts. the lights that came with my 05 Ex sucked big time. the reflectors on the 05 lights are smaller than other years and don't produce much light output with halogens. And the beam pattern is great with these HIDs on my Ex. Seriously, I can see so much better, its like day and night difference. cant go wrong with a good quality set.

I bought my first diesel excursion last month. The dealer installed a 4" magna-flow exhaust system, with no muffler. I dont really have noise in the cab from it, unless im hard on the throttle. I put a gauge pod in it, with egt gauge, trans temp and boost gauge. I also have a sct programmer with innovative diesel tunes. The next this is the EGR delete kit.

Thanks for getting back on topic. I'm thinking about getting a Walker BTM instead of a full exhaust, but I'm still unsure about the whole lift thing.

I have similair questions

I bought my 05 diesel 4x4 w a 4 inch lift included

I want to install some 33 to 35 inch tires on mine but there are some other mods I also want and I{m not sure of the order to do them in

I should probably install new wheel bearings before anything else
Are there better aftermarket bearings available ?

Then I want to add a Stillen big brake kit which require bigger wheels

Then I will need new wheels and tires

BUT my local 4x4 shop says w 35s there may be some trimming to do. I want to add wheel flares anyways, would these cover up the trimming?

I also want to add some road armor bumpers, I imagine I wont have to do any trimming on those

Then I want to add two 12,000 # winches, front and back, but do I do that before or after or during the bumper upgrade ?

I have the walker btm, I like it however it does put off a little drone about 65 mph. I was unsure to go with that or a 4 inch system with a quieter muffler
