if it were me I wouldn't waist my money on extended warrenties. I would save what I was going to spend in an account by its self. add a little money here and there and if you have problems down the road you can pull from that to fix it. If you dont have problems then you can use it as a down payment on your next truck. If you end up having an egr problem I would just delete the system (only cost like $200). Then you save a bunch in the end. The ford esp is only good for anouther 2 years or 100k

This was one my thoughts too. But where can I get a good EGR delete for $200?
you can get a rcd, or sinister kit on ebay for a buy it now of 300, but I have heard of people making them offers of 250 or so and getting it.
2 Questions:
1. Any rdc better than any other?
2. With all the pleathra of sweet info I've been hooked up, I probably have this answer somewhere, but..... If I delete the EGR System, will this remove the EGR valve completely?
dpends on the kit. some just remove the cooler some the valve and cooler. rcd is a good kit, but I like the sinister one as well. for a little more I really like the FCDP one, but its like $600. It comes with a new intake and everything. There are tons of kits out there, and everyone will have a different opion. IMHO these are the best three kits out there though.

Do you think it would be best to remove the Valve and cooler both or just the cooler?
Also, whats your opinion on revoming the EGR system/Valve vrs replacing the cooler with the cooler upgrade? Ford_Power_Stroke_EGR
PS. I'm getting my Banks system removed w/in the next two weeks and adding a cooler filter system next weekend. Yeah!! on my way to making my new ride sweeter!!
Whatever you do remember, certain states are now starting to do emissions checks on diesels. A total valve delete could very well flunk you on the visual inspection. It is only going to get tighter. Do what you can afford if they reject you.
I just installed the Sinister Diesel kit from eBay ($275 shipped was low as they would go). Very nice kit with new stainless up tube and complete EGR cooler/EGR valve removal and lifetime warranty. My 04 runs very smooth now and was well worth the trouble. In my state (WA) they don't check for mods at all - just a "snap" test. I passed DEQ with no muffler or cat.

Hey guy, can you send me your ebay item# so I can see which one exactly you bought?
MKM Customs has several of these kits. They list at $300 or make offer. I started at $250, increasing by $10 with each offer - all were rejected until I hit $275.

My opinion is to gt rid of it all together but keep the valve in place so that it still will pass visual but dosent have any exhaust going though it. I don't worry about emmisions where I'm at. I don't want that ticking time bomb in my truck. Oh and glad to here you are on the right track to getting your truck the best care you can do with that coolant filter and getting rid of that banks. Let me know if you need any more help

Thanks for all the helpful insights. Some of the reasons I bought a Diesel was, 1. I kept hearing how they last over 300k miles, 2. Power and 3. Gas milage.
It's probably gonna be a few weeks but I'll be getting the EGR delete kit for the complete removal.
And believe me, I'm sure I will have plenty-o question to come...
oh, here's another question... What all is involved in the instalation of complete EGR/EGR cooler delete kit? Tools needed, time, etc....
Every heard of this guy on ebay? Seems to have a good reputation for the EGR delete kit and about $50-$75 less than the others.
