Wiring 04/05 seats w/belt pretensioner into 00
I have purchased a used set of bucket seats and console from a 2004 or 2005 F250 extended cab to go into my 2000 F350 extended cab. My main purpose is to have the seat belts in the seat so when I am loading equipment into the back seat area I wont have to struggle with holding the seat belt forward while loading. The belts on the 99-01 extended cabs have a pivot anchor on the pillar, while the belts on the newer seats are entirely in the seats. The seats I am installing have the seat belt pretensioners while my truck and wiring harness (2000) did not. Will the newer seat belts perform the same as my original seats in an accident if the pretensioners are not wired, or should I try to remove the belt latch/pretensioner assembly and use the ones from my older seats? I assume there is no way to wire the pretensioners into my truck that was not originally equiped with them? Do they only fire if the airbag(s) deploy? I also need to add wiring for the power driver's seat which my truck and it's wiring harness did not have. Would any 12 volt source be OK or should I find a source that is only hot when the ignition switch is on. I would prefer mine to work with the ignition off, I am only worried about the possibility of current draw while the truck is sitting. Do the trucks equiped with power seats function with switch off? Thanks for any advice!
