need some ideas

I am new to the powerstroke i have a 2000 f250 with the 7.3 in it and the best i have got on fuel milage is 10 mpg and i think that i should do better than that i have been told that my #8 injector may be week. If #8 injector is bad can that cause me to get that bad of milage it still runs good but does have a slight miss. my other question is my tac will drop to zero rpm when i take my foot off the gas pedel and will stay there till you hit the brakes or the gas it feels like the motor is not running when it does this. thanks

A Big Welcome to the Forum... Ford did have a fix for #8 injector.. that is to replace it with a 'long lead' injector.. mine went bad at around 25K.. As to the other problems, someone will help you out..

Wow, 2 years to make your first post. No reason to be so shy.

Who told you that #8 was weak and exactly how did they determine this? I would ignore that for now and start by making sure oil is clean and full. Fuel filter and air filters do not need to be changed, then move on to looking for a boost leak.

Notice the big aluminum tubes under the hood. At each end of those things there is a rubber boot with hose clamps on the ends. Check to make sure all those hose clamps are snugged down good. Also check the 2 orange boots right under where the two pipes come together.

After that, I'd check the up pipes for leaks. The up pipes are the ones that attach to the exhaust manifold and go up to the back of the turbo. You'll need a flashlight and inspection mirror, but look for soot stains where the pipes attach to the back of the turbo.

The best idea I have for you is to let me borrow it for a year or 2.

It will probably come back with big injectors and maybe a big turbo and a chip.

HAHAHA.
