I am looking to purchase a restored 1972 ford F100 but the previous owner has done some customizations so I thought I would see if the VIN number matches what is in the truck.
If someone would be nice enough to break down my VIN that would be great. I will also link to 3 pictures of the overall look of the truck.
Click on articles and specs at the top of the page, it has a vin decoder that may help you with the info you need. It looks like it still has drum brakes so there probably hasn't been much changed under it. What motor does it have.
P32908 = 1972

The fact that is was assembled in Canada, does not mean it was only sold in Canada. Quite the contrary.
If you want more info, post all the codes found on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
Restored? I would not call it restored, since the paint is not an original color, and it has the wrong grille/parking lamps. It's been customized.
It's a Standard Cab, since it has no stainless steel windshield mouldings. The anodized aluminum grille and parking lamps are from a 1968 Custom Cab/Ranger/1969 Custom Cab (except Ranger).
1972's came with a totally different anodized alumimum grille that has right/left plastic grille inserts. The parking lamps are below the grille, mounted on the stone shield.
btw: Forget the FTE VIN decoders, they are C-R-A-P! Have all sorts of errors and omissions.
Thanks for your reply and such great information. My apologies on the "restored" when it should have been "customized". He also used interior door panels from a 68.
I guess I will start looking for a grill replacement since it is the wrong year and I would like to show the truck (locally) and want to use the correct grill if possible. The interior door panels are all custom painted so I will just leave those.
Additionally, the paint job is messed up as the prep wasn't done properly along the sides and above the 'bump'. I was thinking of just painting it like a two-tone hot rod. Leaving orange on top and jet black on the bottom.
IYO should I run the black from the 'bump' down or should I run it using the front quarter panel top line?
To me the bumps look better a solid color or with a different color roof. but it is a matter of personal preferance.
Yea number dummy I know the decoder leaves a lot to be desired but is better than nothing in case you need a day or two off. ( thanks for the service and accuracy)
