I am looking to find out if anyone has bought the Dakota digital dash? It is spendy, but seems like a good product. Anyone have experience with any of the Dakota Digital parts or dashes.
Yeah, thats what im thinking too. Ive got a complete set of gauges for another project, but I really like use of the stock bezel. Kind of a second look at those show and shines.
Ive got a bezel from a F-600, and the early square opening metal bezel on the shelf.
There is a seller on Ebay that has a good deal on these.
i've been looking at a dolphin guage kit for our trucks from ebay. has the bezzel and all senders. i like the digital but by the time you get the speed sender, and the tranny senser it's $1000 us.lol
i could get my bed sprayed for that.
Necessary sensors included for oil pressure (1/8” NPT), Water Temp (1/8" with bushings for 1/4", 3/8", 1/2” NPT) and speedometer pulse generator. *** For LS engine packages a 12mm 12x 1.5 sender is included along with the 1/8" NPT oil pressure with bushings to adapt to metric threads. Speed sender or adaptors not included for LS engine packages

Pulled that from the Dakota Digital site. You do get the senders and the speedometer pulse generator, If you own a Chivy LS motor, you dont get it. Im not sure what you mean by the transmission sensor, that is optional if you want to know what gear your in. No need for a fuel sending unit as the Dakota setup can read any sender, or so it says.
I plan on probably going with one off ebay as the price is under 600, and still includes all of the senders. The only thing extra that ive bought is the dimming switch, got it from Summit.
my aod floorshifter doesn't tell what gear it's in. np for me but if the wife gets in could be problems.lol
plus the shipping to canada is a bit more,
i would like to find one with 1 big guage like the 50's setup. i like the layout better, just need to find something to fit
Cheapest I could find the gauges with the above insert would total 525ish. That is with Autometer Street Rod Old Tyme gauges. Black face with white needles.
Decisions......
The Dakota Digital dash allows the use of the stock bezel. The one I have is in perfect condition. The gauges can be blue, truck is blue. Comes with the senders and will interface with my trans electric speedo output and the stock 04 Mach1 fuel level sender. I feel this would be a clean stock "appearing" look. Seems to be the easiest to hook up and get running. I feel this would go well with the new mod motor between the frame rails, along with the rest of the mods.
Going with the anologe gauges gives the truck a good throw back look. It looks custom, says custom. Im used to this style of gauges as its like what is in my 95 T-bird. Also uses the stock bezel, but would have to cut it up. Senders are included, not sure how it will interface with the speedo. Wiring wouldnt be any different for the rest of the gauges, though would have to make up a wiring harness. No missing the needles during the day light or night time.
I was looking for a f600 dash for my 67, then about 2 weeks ago I had a look at the dakota digital one and have changed my mind. I have stopped looking for the f600 and now my sights are on the dakota digital. He didn't have it installed in his truck yet but it will fit perfect with what I want to do to my 67. I am a little way away from needing it so might wait for a bit before I pick one up.
Well I bit the bullet........and picked up the Dakota Digital dash. I did alot of research and price matching. But I couldnt beat how well it will interface with what I already have and at 580 shipped to my door, I couldnt resist. I do like the look of either of the billet dash inserts, and they would look really great with some classic gauges.
But with the IFS, 32 valve mod motor, planned IRS, and Cobra R's, the Dakota Digital I feel kind of goes with it all. I dont have anything billet on the truck or in the cab so the insert would look out of place.
Ill post some pics and a write up once I get back from my job, so stay tuned.
Next on the list is the classic auto air conditioning kit.
I know I'm late to the party on this, but I like the Dakota digital stuff, I think it looks nice. The only complaint that I have about the bumpside gauge package: why the devil couldn't they put the odometer display down in the actual odometer window?!

That is probably where the performance readings are displayed and where the message display is shown. May also be able to show a bar graph tachometer. Until I get home to mess with it, I cant say for certain.
