Picked up my 2003 Eddie Bauer Expy on Saturday and put about 200 miles on it already. Options: Advance Trac; Climate Seats; Side curtain bags. (Did not get: Navigation; Rear Entertainment; 2d Row Captain chairs; Tire pressure ... did not want to wait for the hold). So far, happy with it.
Cannot find anyone who is yet selling vehicle specific items like floor mats and front bug deflector. You can only stand driving around with towels on the floor for so long! I did put on the Go Rhino rear hitch step, which is cool and works great.
Also need to come up with a decent way to hold my cell phone in this truck.
I've already got 200 miles on it! So far so good. Will be driving fm DC area to Durham NC week after next. I'm happy with it but my wife and oldest daughter think that I should have stayed with my "classier" and "more practical" Acura MDX (which I am still trying to sell). I do regret not ordering the DVD system, but am counting on finding some compromise system before our family vacation in August.
My only (very minor) complaints so far: (1) they should have put a cassette player even for the Eddie Bauer audio system (for books on tape); (2) would like to have a left foot dead pedal. And, Ford or after-market needs to get moving on accessories!
Ford already has their accessories catalog out for the '03 Expy. I looked through the one at my dealer last week. It's almost identical to the 2002 accessories catalog. Prices in the '03 book are within a few dollars of the '02 book. The front of the catalog is listed as a 2002.25 edition.

X5 is classier, MDX isn't.
congrats on the purchase. Just spin that dvd player around so you can watch and yer set.
I saw my first 2003 Expy in person last week. Sorry but I'm going to stick with my 2002. Dont like the 2003. It really looked like the inside was smaller and that the seats were also condensed. Does anyone else think this or is it just me??? They truly dont seem as roomy as the 2002 and later models. Granted with time come some changes..... but I think they went to far. Just like in the explorers, they have lost their orginality. Sorry to hurt anyone's feelings.....
Love my 2002.
ps. I found a website with custom deflectors for expys. Going to have them done to match my color truck. Oh and has anyone had any problems with HOT radios??? Mine seems to be a bit to hot!!!
For anyone considering the 2003 ... I can't disgaree that it does not feel as roomy as the earlier models (I used to drive a 1998). Still feels plenty roomy, though. Also, I gotta say that the dashboard & control layout is just plain ugly. Other than that, though, I am still very happy with this vehicle. It has many features that make it stand out from the earlier Expys. Of course, to each his own!
I have to agree with Skisbabe, after looking at a few EB's and XLT's I'm not sold on the new '03's. I currently have a '98 EB that has treated me well since new, and I still love the styling even though it is now a little dated. I would like a new Expy but there are some issues I cannot get past. The front end looks cheap (especially the grill), ditto for the interior (especially the air vents), and the lack of power upgrade is disapointing. If they unveil the 305 horse 3 valve 5.4 as the rumors indicate, maybe I can get over some of the other dislikes. For now I'll stick with old school.
