new to posting but really need help. I have a 97 f250 w/ 215,000 mods include superchips programmer K&N air,and no cat back.Started running very rough and had no power and was not smoking. The next day still running very rough and started smoking very badly. Smelled like raw fuel. Checked oil level ok and no diesel smell to it.Pulled the valve covers and three of the four plugs had melted pins. They were the outside wires(for the glow plugs?). Would that cause the rough running and smoking? I dont have a way to check the injectors but would like to know if ok while the covers are off. Is there a way to check them on a budget?
it ran bad all the time. I put the chip back to stock. Had the chip in for years, never any trouble. I hope it is just the harness, but would like to check the injectors while i have it down.
i dont think it's your programer i've had my superchips for 4 years now and no problems. change harness, vavle cover gasket's and glow plugs if they are old. most likely the pins in the vavle cover gasket are burnt and giving you bad connections
