Ryan I don't beat the poor thing lol. I think that it wants to go back to being a stick so it kills every auto I put in it. At least this time the yard has to pay for the tranny. I just get the honors of swapping it out....again. I realy need to find a super cheap donor truck for the manual swap. I will even settle for an older 4 speed tranny. I just need everything from the flywheel back, so a donor with a blowed motor would be the best thing.

No we were not smart enough to take something big like US 119. I was planning to head back to the Mammoth Cave region from Hazard KY when my son make a case to visit Kingdom Come State Park so we punched it into the GPS and took KY 15 to KY7, etc to KY 160.

I was so glad to get to Cumberland but me and the MH were sweating bullets after the 1000 foot rise in two miles from the park entance to the park office. That was our first 14% grade that started out and stayed in lst gear at WOT all of the way but it made it with the dash air running.

It is a 1992 P30 chassis with the early 454 TBI engine. I only left the dash air on to test the completely new coolant system which did not boil but took 5 minutes to get back down to the normal running range and shut it off.

Charles after that deal I stopped at Wal-Mart and had my son go in and get a road atlas. Now he has to plot the GPS directions on it before we take off. GPS's sure can not think for you.

Rock cuts without any drill marks are a NO NO now in the motorhome.

Hey Buck. Got any more specifics as to what you are looking for? What model years? I can keep my eyes peeled. Here is a list of options available for a 1986 F250. I don't remember what your motor came from. This is from an online junk yard database I lurk at...

A.T., 4x2, C6, 6-300 (4.9L)
A.T., 4x2, C6, 8-351W (5.8L)
A.T., 4x2, AOD (5.0L), 10-1/4" ext hsg
A.T., 4x2, AOD (5.0L), 11-1/4" ext hsg
A.T., 4x2, C6, 8-420 (6.9L, diesel)
A.T., 4x2, C6, 8-460 (7.5L)
M.T., (4 spd), New Process, 4x4
M.T., (4 spd), New Process, 4x2, 4-1/4" ext
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-18, 4x4
M.T., (4 spd), New Process, 4x2, 12-1/4" ext
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-18, 4x2, 12" ext
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-18, 4x2, 4" ext
M.T., (4 spd), Ford OD (4x2)
A.T., 4x4, C6, 8-460 (7.5L)
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-19, 4x2 (6.9L & 7.5L)
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-19, 4x4, 6.9L
M.T., (4 spd), Warner, T-19, 4x4, 7.5L
A.T., 4x4, C6, 8-351W (5.8L)
A.T., 4x4, C6, 8-420 (6.9L, diesel)
A.T., 4x4, AOD (5.0L)

Tell me what flavor, and maybe a price range I will see what is out there. I am thinking something along the lines of the M.T. 4spd Warner t-19 4x4, 6.9l. Will that work for you?

Those are some back roads once you got off 15. I was told be a coal outfit in Cumberland that Kingdom Come State Park is a great place to see the bears. At dark they come out and raid the trash cans. Coming down hwy15, just take it to Whitesburg and take US 119 to Cumberland. Pine Mountain is a beautiful drive, and 119 is a little curvey going over the mountain and for a little ways towards Cumberland, but it's a very scenic drive.

Thanks Ryan. Ya I would go for the manual 4speed 4x4. Thing is I need everything. Pedals, master and slave cycliders, flywheel, t-case, and driveshafts. Right now I have to wait and see what money is gonna be available in the near future. I need a rich relative to kick off (if I have any lol) and leave all thier money.

I have yet to see my first bear in that part of the country. My nephew said he saw one going down the WK Parkway. I didn't know there were any in western Ky. I have seen some elk while up on some strip jobs.

No bear reports for my area of the state. When we were at Kingdom Come they had the bear resistant trash cans but we did not see any bears.

Gale i know what you mean on that 6" of snow here in murray. i'm from ~2 hours WSW of murray right next to the mississip in TN but am goin to school up here. it took me 3.5 hours to get home that day and i left at 4 in the afternoon.

I was talkin to one of the guys i have class with that lives in the dorms. He said they had a tow rope out hooked to a 4-wheeler and they were skiing across the football stadium parking lot on their boots behind the 4-wheeler. then he said MSU police didn't think that was too funny though.
