I have a 97 f250psd 215,000miles with superchips programmer and a K&N air filter. Yesterday morn hard to start and ran very rough but no smoke. no power when accelerated. also check eng light was on.Read code as cps changed it and the fuel filter which was not that old. Same result, ran truck for a while and it cleared up. Cleared code. drove to work and it started acting up again. Leaving work all was same then started smoking badly from exhaust with gray smoke ,smelled like raw fuel. It started running worst sounds like valves clattering with heavy smoke. No power. I could almost watch the fuel guage move. new mechanical fuel pump. any suggestions? could old batteries cause the computer to mess up? any ideas would be appriciated.
It could be something as simple as being low on oil. Take the superchip tuner tune off and see what happens. Did the fuel filter look bad or have any junk on it that would indicate injector O rings going bad? Clean the FPR screen. Check the oil for diesel smell. Anyway, this reply will give you a bump to the top, maybe some more guys will jump in. Sounds like its going to be a process of elimation, changing the cps was a good first move. Wellcome to FTE.
