How much is a radio delete panel out of a F-350 worth. It's tabs are not broken but the woodgrain is faded. I'm just wondering what everyone would be willing to pay for it.
Since it is the Factory Radio Delete panel, and not the Dealer delete faceplate, it's going to be worth more.
That panel is for a 1985-1986, XL, XLT or XLT Lariat without a factory radio option. You can tell by the style of woodgrain. I personally wouldn't pay more than $15 for it due to the condition, and it is missing it's nameplate.
Although it will fit other years, the 1980-1984 Factory Delete in woodgrain is different, and 1980-1981 black weave, has CUSTOM written on it, and the 1982-1984 black weave doesn't have anything written on it. There is also a 1985-1986 Black-weave radio delete bezel as well. So if you are looking for period year correct, that is some things to consider.
Now if the bezel was in new to good condition, you could probably get a good deal on that from the right buyer. Radio Delete panels (especially in woodgrain) are extremely rare in good condition. Most have been cut up for aftermarket radios.
So somewhere around $15-$30 would be a good price. I was tooling around the junkyard and came across a F-350 flatbed and this was in it. I needed it to cover the gaing hole in my dash where there used to be a radio. Is there any way to refurbish the woodgrain or get it looking better?Or should I just sell it and whoever buys it can paint it or do whatever.
It may be the rarer factory delete panel panel, but it is in pretty bad shape, namely the faded woodgrain. I don't think you can bring the woodgrain back once its faded like that. Also, the broken tabs and the fact that it does not have the cutouts at the top for the digital clock, I wouldn't think it would be worth much of anything...under $20 for sure.
Simple question - does it match the grain in your truck now? Is your existing stuff on the dash faded too? I say use it, especially if it matches the rest of the truck.
If you're handy with a knife, you could probably get some new Burlwood decal sheets from an interior specialty site and simply cover the old Burlwood, but I doubt you could find the same hue that Ford used.

I agree; it seems EVERY one of those burled woodgrain interiors I've seen look
faded, which makes me wonder what it looked like new.
About its condition, it's dirty and needs to be cleaned up, but the tabs are NOT
broken, the OP even specified that:

It wouldn't surprise me if he were to get $40 or more for it.
no it doesn't match my interior as I don't have one anymore as I sold my truck. But I will be getting another one soon but it will have a radio. If anyone one is interested in it just pm me and we will figure something. But yes the tabs are not broken and it is in good condition from what I have seen. Also everyone I have seen is in that same purpleish condition even on craigslist all of them are that color.
If you clean it up & get all the build up out of the corners then spray it out with a very nice even coat of semi laquer w/UV inhibitor on the burl finish only, it will enhance/improve the look alot. If you aren't handy doing stuff like that then I would recommend you don't try it. If you make a mistake there's no looking back.
Yeah I'm only 17 but I'm fairly handy when it comes to painting and anything mechanical. I might try that out just to improve the look. I was thinking of cutting it out to make a DIN sized slot but I couldn't bring myself to cut something up that someone else might want for it's rarity.
Yeah, on my '85, the burlwood woodgrain is faded to a "purple" tint as well. It looks pretty bad like that. I noticed that the older style woodgrain usually is not faded much if at all.
Does anyone know why the burlwood fades so easily?
