Power Steering Pump Problems

I have a 1974 F100 4x4 that I have completly redone from the frame up. In the process I put an entire front axle and steering assembly from a 1979 F150 4x4 in it, for the disc brakes and for the power steering setup. My problem is that the power sreering pump moans and groans when I work the steering wheel back and forth. If I fill the pump right up to the full mark and drive it for a bit it seems fine, until I stop then all the fluid comes out the top past the dipstick assembly. then I am back to square one again having to add oil. The return line is only about a foot long. I have noticed on 78 - 79 Bronco's that the return line is quite long and that it runs along the front frame crossmember. Has anyone had a similar problem or would anyone have any ideas or solutions to my problem. Thank you

The return line needs to be much longer, as it is also a cooling line. Look for aftermarket, or auto teansmission radiators to cool the fluid.
