Stop Light Switch Installation

I have an issue with the installation of the Ford 78.79 stoplight switch. The switch seems to wide for the flat brake rod. The excentric bolt only supports one side of the switch. It seems that I am missing a spacer or washer? I have a switch, an excentric bolt with plastic bushing, the flat brake rod and a stock 78/79 power brake pedal arm. I would really like to use this stock switch but it has been several years since I removed it and I havent access to a good junk yard for a looksee comparison. What am I missing?

William, shoot me an email through my user, I will take a couple shots of my setup using the switch on my stock 66 brake pedal arm, and send it back to you.

There are two possibilities, as there are different switches, two totally different setups.

Here's how they attach to the brake pedal:

1) 1977/79 (without speed control): The end of the stoplight switch is threaded, it fits thru a hole in a bracket that's part of the brake pedal. Between the switch and the bracket, is a nylon washer, but...there are two different sizes, it depends on which switch (there are two) you have. Look on the switch for an ID number, post what it is.

With this setup, the pushrod attaches directly to the pedal itself with a bolt and nut, it has nothing to do with the switch. There's a nylon washer in the pushrod the bolt passes thru.

2) 1973/76 (1977/79 with speed control): The switch attaches to a stud on the pedal, the stud has a hole in it for a clevis pin to retain the switch. Two nylon washers are required, one on each side of the switch. There is bushing in the pushrod which fits into the switch itself.

1967/79 passenger cars use a similar setup.
