Weird groan from front?

So Ive noticed a new noise from my 02 4x4 Supercrew. When I hit the brakes and lower speeds (below 25), I get a groan from the left front. Its not a constant noise like pads that are metal to metal, which I checked and are ok. Its like an on/off thing that comes and goes evenly when braking. I feel like it could be a CV joint or something, but Im really not sure. Is it possible to replace just the joint, or do I have to buy a whole shaft, assuming thats my issue?

Doesn't sound like a CV joint to me. I think I'd start by pulling the brakes and cleaning everything.

Its time to revisit this...Since my first post I put new rotors, pads, left side wheel bearing and CV shaft. I STILL have this noise! Its really driving me insane! I really dont have a clue where to go now. Someone has to have the same problem.
