More Updates
I also removed, media blasted, painted and replaced my leaking valve cover, blasted and painted the manifolds and had my exhaust done, using a FlowMaster 40 exiting out behind the driver's side rear tire...sounds GREAT!
My 13 year-old son and I also painted the emblems on the hood--the side spears and the front badge. I don't think the inside of the arrow is supposed to be painted (it wasn't before), but he thought it made the "F-100" stand out better and I have to agree...
After I rebuilt the Holley 1904 (first time rebuilding a carb--not that difficult and she runs AWESOME now!) I installed a new choke cable that I got from LMC. The old **** was so brittle that it literally crumbled when I tried to get it off. So I went to AutoZone looking for *****. No luck, but I did find this, which is meant for screwing on to your door locks. I cut it down and screwed it onto the end of the choke cable. I think it looks kinda cool and, of course, my son likes it. I'm thinking of doing all the ***** this way. Also painted the "CHOKE" letters red...
And...we added our "poor man's weatherstripping"...5/8" backer rod--about $2.80 for a 20 foot roll. The black stuff is from the PO's attempt at installing the good rubber stuff...
