I'm having a little trouble with my joeanese tonight. HELP Wrecker or Rupe. lol
Yea it helps I dont have studs and want to upgrade my exhaust but I don't want to much boost until I stud it. It is real peppy empty, but could be better loaded. lol
Most states will not allow the exhaust to exit in front of the passenger compartment, or for that matter even an opening into the passenger compartment.
When Lake pipes (side pipes) were all the rage, the only stock factory car that could pass inspection in WV with Lake pipes was a Corvette.
The rear windows on most two door cars extended behind the front of the rear wheel well, so as long as the windows were operable, no side pipes.
As far as the stock manifolds, I have no doubt that headers would help with a NA motor.
I know how much difference changing the stock exhaust to 3" helped, and changing the manifolds with larger exhaust would probably double that increase.
But then looking at the price of headers, and the cost...a turbo just has so much more potential return for the dollars invested.
A used turbo system has an even higher return per dollar potential if you can find one.
And the STS system does use a pump to return the engine oil to the engine.
A member from the WV chapter I knew moved to Pa and is installing those systems up there.
We talked about them right after he moved and started installing them.
I do think they have a system that is supposed to be diesel capable, but most of the STST systems are going on gasoline engines.
Low boost on a gas engine that takes it from a vacuum to a pressure intake system makes a huge difference.
Even a diesel going from very low vacuuum to a pressure intake also makes a huge difference, that is why anything you can do to increase the intake air pressure is good.
But when you start looking at the HP return from the dollars invested, turbo systems are hard to beat.
