friend of mine ( really) just changed out his antifreeze in his 2005 5.4....and now it acts like it has a bad head gasket..
did I see someplace that there is supposed to be an additive ( bars leak from dealer is the only thing i can really call it) poured in with the new fluid?? i thought that something had to be done because of the aluminium heads...
i remember having to buy an additive from cadilac when changing out the antifreeze a number of years ago because of the alum. heads..
Interesting....I have personally never heard of a "special additive" for aluminum heads.

I was looking thru my owners manual for 2010 last night and it has an actual part number from fords for this....the manual for my old 1999 didn't if i remember right...
friend of mine is going to the dealer today to see what "henry ford" can tell him about it...
if you want the part number i'll go out and get the owners manual...
Yes, you've got to use a particular type of antifreeze for aluminum heads. I don't 100% remember what the difference is (probably something to do with how it chemically reacts with the metal), but if you look at a lot of off the shelf stuff at your local parts store, it will say somewhere on the container if it’s approved for aluminum or not. The alternative is the additive.
