I have had good luck with the dual coil Wellmans for the 6.9 system, in 4 years and 4 different trucks I had one fail, and it was within the 1 year warranty, they sent me a whole new set. I have been known to burn the ones in my truck 30+ seconds on -35 days too, mind you I never cycle them after start up, I think that is what kills 'em.
The 7.3 style ones are single coil and not self regulating, so all bets are off, nothing but Berus for those.
Personally, I will run the Wellmans, and haven't had any issues, but, I'm not going to recommend them and swear up down and sideways that they are great, reviews are very mixed on them.

All I can say is we got the new motocraft glowplugs about a month ago thanks to the advice on the forum and all has been well with our manual switch and hitting the switch for 10 seconds before startup

I'm going out on a limb on this one...I hate going against everyone's advice, especially on glow plugs. Since when they fail, it's REALLY bad news!
2 summer's ago, I installed Autolite 1109's in my first IDI, the type Marianna talked about in a thread I had read at the time. I got them through Carquest. I didn't bother going by truck model, I just asked them for Autolite 1109's. I bought 8 and brought them home. I heated them up on the battery charger before installation as suggested in a thread. Best to swell them and burn 'em up OUT of the truck. Sure enough, 6 of the 8 swelled up and died. I noticed the boxes were sunlight faded and suspected they had been on a shelf for a long time. They were also NOT individually wrapped. In the thread I read about how moisture can build up in the glow plug tip, then when heat is applied, they die.
I brought all 8 back, and the Carquest manager replaced all 8 for free. Brought the next 8 home and did the battery charger thing again. Burned up like 3 of them. I kept 4 good ones, and had the other 4 replaced. (They come in boxes of 4) The last set of 4 were fine. I had each glow plu cycle through the battery charger game 6 times. I started out heating them 1/4 of the tip, then moved to 1/2 of the tip, then 3/4 of the tip, then the whole tip. The last two rounds I held them for 10 seconds, then 15 seconds on the last round. They all held up fine. They all held up fine in that truck.
That original IDI blew a head gasket, so I stripped the truck and kept the motor and had those same 8 glow plugs sitting on the work bench for 8 months. I recently replaced the head gaskets on my current IDI Daily Driver and put those 8 plugs through the battery charger game another 6 rounds, doing the same procedure as before. They all passed with flying colors, and the truck starts in single digit temps within 4 revolutions of the motor.
By the way, this truck has 98k miles and I bought it from the original owners who had it maintained at a dealer. The plugs were all Motorcrafts, and only 4 worked. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were 10 years old. Needless to say, with 8 working glow plugs and all 8 cylinders having proper compression with new head gaskets, the truck starts up fast!
Sorry for the long post, figured I would finally "come out of the closet" since I'm using non-Motorcraft/Beru plugs and share some info I know first hand.

Only beru for me. I bought 8 new ones on line and all 8 wouldn't even heat up right out of the boxes. I spent the extar money at Kentucky motors and got the berus and no problems since. I have mine on a manual switch. I also changed the conections and used the 7.3 style plugs.
