I am trying to determine the exact year of my truck. It has a divorced transfer case,34" wide frame ,but it has rectangular headlights. Can anyone tell me when or where they used rectangular lights? Im pretty sure the cab does not match the frame because of the vin # on the cab/door. maybe the front clip is also a different year. Any clues would be appreciated
and 78s had them on the fancier trim models (base customs did not) 77 1/2s all had round lights with the same grill as the later trucks, not earlier. Its easy to change the front clip onto any 73-79, so...
Well that could explain it. The cab is a 78 f150 xlt lariat At some point it had A/c and cruise control. This front clip could match the cab. Did the 78's still have the gas tanks behind the seat?
You have the cab figured out someone installed the
original tank in the newer cab. If the front axle
is a Dana 44 with 4" hubs and disk brakes it is a
76'or 77' drum brakes would be 73'to 75' with closed knuckles. wheel base will be 133" 73'-79'
131" 67'to 72' Highboys. I hope this sheds some light on you project.
Yes it does have 4-1/2" Hubs, 133" wheelbase. I believe it's a Dana 44 front axle. It also has disk brakes w/dual piston calipers. So I will assume that this truck is a 78 XLT Lariat. Thanks all for your help.
Seems it may be a 74. Their is an exact replica of this truck in the pictorial under 74,4x4 Ranger can someone shed some light on this 4-1/2" hub I need to order a set of hubs. Thanks
