98 f150 help

hey. i bought a 98 f150 4.6L that was blown up, so i put a new engine in it. and now i need some help. it starts right up and runs perfectly, but as soon as i hit the gas it stalls, but if i keep playing with the throttle (pushing it down, letting it up, pushing it down, etc.) then after a few seconds it runs perfect again at a higher rpm. so it runs perfect at idle and higher rpms, and no codes come up, i've looked at everything i can think of and i cant figure it out. lots of fuel pressure, new fuel filter... i dont know what else it could be. does anybody have any idea? thanks

Unplug the MAF sensor and take another test drive. Overlook the resulting MIL.

i just did that and nothing changed. i was talking to someone who told me the throttle position sensor could be causing it so am going to try that because i think i have one here. if it doesn't fix it, do you have any other ideas of what it may be?... also, the 4x4 wont work, its manual (on the floor) but i cant get it to move, is there a safety lock or something that could be causing this? i wouldn't think it could seize becuase it goes right into the transfer case doesn't it?

Check the TPS PIDs with your scan tool and see if they are consistent with the throttle position.

There is no safety lock on the 4X4 shifter, it is probably just frozen, i would try spraying it with some PB Blaster or something similar

i found out its not the throttle position sensor. but i used brake clean on the MAF sensor becuase someone told me to clean it, and i think it might of helped it out, im going to clean it better tomorrow and see. now i can get it to rev up easier, especially in neutral, but once i put it in gear it still wants to stall. but once im going i can let it rev right down and hit the throttle and it picks up perfectly.

and the 4x4 i guess i will leave it until i can drive the truck for a bit and see if i can get it to work
