leaking master cylinder

leaking master cylinder
My master cylinder has recently started leaking brake fluid, but not from the threaded break lines its leaking from the cap on the top when the engine is running. I replaced the cap and gasket with new pieces and made sure the clamp was plenty tight, what would cause this? Thanks

I have had two Master Cylinders that the top rim of the cast iron reservoir became too rough to hold a good seal. I removed the fluid in the reservoir and stuffed paper towel down in it then I took a sharp file and cleaned up the top edge so the rubber had a good smooth seal to mate to.
Carefully pulled the paper towels out that caught the shavings and refilled the reservoir.
Never had anymore leaks.
Maybe this is what is wrong with yours. Check the rim for roughness.
