Newb Needs Trans Help
Hello All,
I know the search function is my friend. But I figured I would post just in case there is a quicker solution during my search.
I have a 2004 F150 Scab with the 5.4. Recently the trans started acting as if its doing neutral drops upon accelleration from a stop. It wont do it if starting off in 1st or 2nd, only drive. When in gear it sounds as if there are rocks rattling around in a beer can. I got under the truck and pulled the BH plug and it sounds as if its coming from the TC. I dont dog the truck and I think the 2 foot of snow we had 2 weeks ago was the first time the truck has ever been in 4wd so I am not sure if that caused the problem. I checked the fluid and hte levels are fine.
The downside is I owe entirely too much on the truck and dont have 3k or whatever it would cost for a new tranny. Any ideas.

Since you mention 4wd I'd check this first:

Needless to say I owe 15 on the truck its not worth it and it has to sit because I cant afford a $3400 trans. The only thing more irritating than this happening is making payments on a truck thats sitting.
