2001 EB Expedition RANT
2001 EB Expedition RANT
I just need to let off some steam, my 01 expy ( purchased new ) is pissing me off. Truck only has 49K miles on her, mostly garaged and just recently I had to replace the rear trailing arms due to they were rusting out. Now I have found the lower front ball joints are bad, so WTF is up with that, I mean it's not a SD. I had a 97 EB expy ( never garaged ) and never had to replace the trailing arms in fact it had 192K on her when I sold just over 18 month ago and the ball joints were replaced at 133K. So am I missing something or did the parts quality go down hill.
Ok now I fell better, done with my rant.

Without saying good or bad, having read this forum for a couple of years now, just seems to be common things regardless of miles. Ford had a couple of bad years with poorly protected/made trailing arms.
I have to 2002 silverado 4X4, only had a year or two in NH, at about 36K (I bought it used at 24K) the brakes had failed, inner pads gone, rotors looked like they had been dipped in salt water, why - who knows, disc brakes have been around by now and we should know how to design them to at least be serviced once before being replaced.
I know this doesn't help, but it's really strange how common parts get redesigned for the worse on a recurring basis. Remember the GM auto trans from the mid eighties, I think it was the first or second one with overdrive and they used some type of plastic gears and then they failed every few thousand miles.

Proper grammar dictates the use complete words not abbreviations like "Expy". However, if an abbreviation is necessary then it should be followed by a period. Correct grammar further dictates the use of "a" not "an" when writing the following, "I have an '01 Expy." Also, using a single word with punctuation as you did with "Chinese?" makes it a fragment, not a sentence. Your rather short response in this thread that included criticisms of the grammar written others, contains four grammatical errors in itself. Now I ask you, are you going to knock it off with the grammar checking and criticisms of people posting or do you want to continue this dance?

I think it also has something to do with the nasty chemicals they use on the roads in the winter. They have tried to tell us in Colorado, formerly a no salt state, that magnesium chloride is not harmful to vehicles. They mix it with a sticky vegatable based oil and spray it on the roads. It sticks to everything and it is without a doubt, very corrosive.
I apologize to cbradford and alloro for my rude comment on grammar (and my weak attempt at humor); the forum is for Fords not Miss Thistlebottom’s pedantry. No need to dance but consider the indefinite article A/An. You’re correct if I pronounce ’01 as zero one but I use the colloquial oh-one which requires the article an. If Expy was not in common usage you are correct (similar to Corvette, ‘Vette, now just Vette)…and so forth. Sorry, I’ll stick to Fords and let you know when my corrosion begins in earnest.
