Painting frame

Live where they put a lot of salt down in the winter. Want to paint frame, oil pan, shocks, axles, leaf springs, bottom of the bed, inside up by the fuel cap on the inside, everything underneath is going to get painted. The question is, what to use? Its all painted black now, but its starting to rust a little and want to do it one time and be done with it. I heard people using bedliner, por 15, rust bullet, ect. Whats the best stuff if I only want to do it once?

I believe either of those 2 products are your best bet. I prefer POR15 and others like Rust Bullet better. They are similar products that should give you similar end results. I did the entire frame on my '79 with POR15 and plan on doing my PSD this summer some time.

I used Herculiner bedliner on my rocker panels, and inside of the doors. Really like it, maybe I'll just use that. idk

I would use Chassis black ceramic 2k if you have a air paint gun HVLP. It is a catalyzed formula and is very strong and should last a very long time.

I used POR 15 on a Jeep project I had a while ago and it seems like really good stuff. I ended up selling the project but I was impressed with how the POR 15 adhered to the frame and remained a little flexible as well.

If you wanna do it right, go with the POR-15. My brother did the frame on his 78 f150 with it and the stuff was amazing. I chucked a 3/8" ratchet at him one day during a fight, missed him and hit the frame. It didn't even scratch or chip! We still have spots on the concrete floor 8 years later where it dripped. The only downside is it will fade if you leave it in the sunlight, so you gotta top coat it with something.

My plow jeep. Still looks good. BUT, I think with anything and salty conditions you will need touch up.. I plan on doing my jeep again this spring. Once the salt is gone. Hard to tell how well it is holding up because it is all salt stained. The spring i will take a duplicate picture of how well it held up.

Cleaned off any loose stuff with hammer/chisel/brush. etc.
Blew it all off real good with the air hose. Wearing mask of course.
I used a gallon of rustoleum. No thinner. Sprayed it on with the Wagner Piston pump.

Last summer

Here is a pic I took of the front air shock install mod. No rusties on the frame yet but lots of salt. Mid January pic.

ha! my first post! - been lurking for months. I've been thinking about doing this on my SD and wonder if anyone has used Magnet Paint's Chassis Saver? I've heard it's good and it looks like it's priced a hair under POR-15. I'm curious if anyone has had any first-hand experience to compare the two?
