Hello, i have a carbureted 302 in my truck that runs great and burns no oil out the exhaust. the problem i ran into is that within the last year/10,000 miles is it emitts alot of vapor out of the drivers side valve cover. its not outragious but it did plug up the factory breather vent. i know that the pcv valve operates but i think it cant handle all the vapor. i had the cover off and it was clean-no sludge at all. I tried to add a pcv valce in place of the vent but there isnt enough engine vacuum to support both valves at the same time. what should i do (other than rebuild/remanufactured engines!)

How does it run otherwise? If it runs fine, you might want to just keep an eye on it, otherwise I would start with a compression test.

i would take out that other pcv valve and put the vent tube back in.it supplies fresh air into the crank case and allows the pcv to work properly.as the pcv sucks out the bad air that vent allows fresh air to enter.there is a lot of up and down movement inside the engine so you won't get a vacuume in the engine.a little blow by is normal.
when you do the compression test do a dry test record your readings, then add a little oil into the cylinder and do the test again.if there is a big difference between readings your rigs are bad.
