clutch play

I just noticed today that my clutch pedal has about 2-3 inches of play before it feels like there is pressure. Is there an adjustment that I can do? Could this have slipped because I don't remember there being that much room in the pedal before?

Hydraulic Clutch Troubleshooting .: Articles Have a read here. Also check fluid level and depending on year check for firewall flexing/cracking.
