HELP! Big Rain Storm :-(
We are having a huge downpour here in Arizona. I hit a really big puddle and now several things are going on
First thing I noticed, the truck is shifting really hard, and it feel like the tranny is slipping.
Second, my Speedo gauge is bouncing around all over the place.
Third, my "Service Engine Soon" light came on...
Forth, my horn is honking for no reason
What the heck is going on, I cannot drive like this
The events happened in that order on my commute home. The truck is a 1999 F-350 with a V10... if that matters.
Please help, Thank You!

How deep was your really big puddle? If you open the hood, how high up did the water get or splash?
You've got electrical issues. I'd start by making sure any fuses and relays under the hood are dry. Then take off and dry out the ISS & OSS sensors on the side of the tranny. Do the same for the VSS on top of the rear diff. A little dielectic grease around the plug when putting things back together might help prevent a re-occurrence.

try drying it off, with a compressed airline if you have one...
could be the VSS on top of the rear diff. got water into the connection..
when you drive throu deep water at speed, the force behind the water is enuf to get past the moisture barrier in most electrical fittings.
i make it a priority to avoid deep puddles instead of aiming for them like 4X4 owners do..

When I lived down in Arizona (thanks to the Uncle Sam travel plan) I learned two things.
#1 If the sign says DIP IN ROAD they mean "There is a 4 foot deep concrete ditch running across the road in front of you. Slow way down if you like your front suspension."
#2 If the sign says WATER ON ROAD it means "There is a freakin' river on the road in front of you because the DIP isn't big enough to contain the runoff. You may experience death if you try to cross it."

VSS on top of the rear pumpkin it's cheap and easy to replace. Bouncing speedo should go away.
