The shackle flip only yeilds half its length in lift because you're only relocating one end of the spring pack so it only nets about 2" in actual lift.
This is how i did mine, it may not be the shackle flip everyone else was talking about, but I used a donor frame and pulled the front spring hanger of the leafs (in front of the rear axle) and flipped it upside down and installed it inplace of the old rear spring hanger (behind the axle) I had to make a couple new mounting holes to do this, it has been about 3 years since i did, you need to get the correct position so you have the correct position for your spring shackle to work correctly along with the rear suspension. Like I mentioned this gave me about 4" of lift. Do your research before starting this or any lift, make sure it is done safely and properly! I am only giving a brief description of this, it gets to be a lil complicated figuring out the new proper angles!
One way to do it is to remove both rear shackle mounts of the rear leaf springs. Swap them from side to side (drives to pass, pass to drivers) and flip the shackle mount upside down. If I recall correctly, they use the same holes. You will only have about $10 in bolts.
You may want to check pinion angle, but with only that much movement, it shouldn't be to bad.
thanks alot does anyone have any ideas of how to catch up with the rear cause im getting 9 inch coil srings so can go anymore on that unless someone makes custom ones? thanks alot
how much lift does that give when you go from drivers to passenger and passenger to drivers? or is that the "2-4" you guys are talking about? i thought a shackle flip was ordering new ones?
Here's how I did mine. Similar to what Hickfied said but If I was to use the same holes they would have hit the under side of the bed. Sooo, I used the lower holes and added a piece of angle bar under each frame rail and dropped the hangers down yielding more lift. I'm including a pic of my home built front hangers too.
im going to flip my shackles so does anyone have ideas how to get the front to sit up even? thanks
Get 4" coils, adjustable track arm, 4* C bushings, and a drop pitman arm. If you are into fabbing now is the time to extend your radius arms to allow for better flex.
