c-6 rebuild
i've got a c-6 behind a 351c in my 77 f100. it's having some problems and i want to rebuild it. i've never worked on an auto tranny.
are there rebuild kits available?
should i replace the pump with a rebuilt one.
should i replace the torque converter with a rebuilt one while i have the tranny out.
i want to put a mild shift kit in too.
what do you think?

c-6 rebuild
I have a 79 f150 4x4 with a c6. I rebuilt it myself for about $250 total. I bought a "master rebuild kit". It is what most trans shops use. It comes with all clutchs, gaskets, seals. but only has 2 of the most commonly repaced bushings.
I bought the complete bushing kit, the pump rebuild kit,planitery set,torque convertor and a b&m shift kit. use the haynes automatic manual it is straight forward. I though it was a pretty easy job. and I replaced all ? componants. I think it will be a better job than any of my local rebuilds. I know I was cleaner. I guess I will find out in about 2 weeks if I should have used a rebuilder. Motors all most finished!
