Where the heck is all the center caps!!!! Ford sold a zillion and a half of these trucks, most with the aluminum rims, and for the life of me I cannot find a rear set around here!! I see all kinds of trucks with aftermarket rims, I see all kinds of trucks with the factory aluminum rims with NO center caps, and I see a bunch with the center caps. Where the heck do they all go. I checked every wrecking yard, and tire places and everybody says no! I even post adds on craigslist and still nothing. I just don't get it. Heck i have even started to actually stop guys with aftermarket rims and trucks without the center caps just to see if they have any they want to get rid of. Just boggles my mind I guess. I know there are some on ebay, but most of them are aftermarket (with no ford emblem) or want way to much money. sorry for the rant.
I don't think you'll find many used ones. They had a crappy attachment system IMO that, once broke, never would keep the cap on reliably. Aftermarket ones are a little salty and you really have to beat them on tight, but even they won't stay on if someone uses them as a step (as I believe one or more of my unwitting relatives may have done with mine)
I just painted my hubs gloss black and when I can afford dome stainless steel acorns for the lugs, that will solve that problem.
I do like the way the caps look and wish there was a set out there that were guaranteed to stay on.
A stainless, under the wheel cap and acorn nut set would be the cat's a**, IMO. If only I could find a set like that.
their all in the ditches down the free way........at least I know one is, saw it flyoff my buddys truck while following him, called him on the cell to see if he wanted it and all I remebering hearing "F#$% dem D#@! center caps blah blah blah" Anyways, his one rear cap is somewhere in the ditch.
Hmm, I thought the factory ones would be better than that. I will call the hubcaps.com place and see what they can do for me. I just cant believe they seem to just vanish.
I have the aftermarket rear ones and love them. They look identical to the OEM ones but no logo. Nobody ever notices.
They have a better attaching mechanism. It attaches around the nuts instead of a plastic clip in the rim

Where did you get them Neal? And how much were they my problem with the center caps Is not falling off but getting all dented up from rocks after a while they start to look like an old Pepsi can shot up with a BB gun lol.
I have used those too and I agree they stay on way better than OEM. I gave up because I had just put 2 new ones on and went to an event and someone used the center cap as a step to reach into the back of the truck for something and I ended up losing the cap. Of course I didn't see it happen, but between the way those things grab onto the lug nuts and the crowd hanging around the truck at the event, I can't imagine it just fell off.
That was like the 3rd or 4th cap I had bought and I just got tired of spending the money for now.
They do hang on tight though, as long as no one climbs on them. They are the kind I will get if I buy new ones again.
