Diesel Engine Weight

Any idea of how much more a diesel engine weighs than an equivalent hp gas engine?

I know the new 6.7L weighs 1100 lbs. I would think the others ( 6.0l-6.4l ) would be close to that weight.

I think the diesels weigh about 1100# as stated above. Your question about equivalent HP gas engine isn't really apples to apples as diesels are more made for torque. Modern pickup diesels run around 350 HP, not sure what the gassers push but I think a V-8 weighs about 600#? maybe and a V-10 a bit more....

The 4.6l and 5.4l gas engine was made in different variations. F-series had different blocks than engines put in cars. If I remember right, there have been 8 variations over the life span and that has been since 1997. Th v10 essentially weighed approximately 25% more than its littler brother and sister. Approximate weight of the 5.4l 2v was 585lbs and the 3v weighted 610lbs. Please remember this does not include air cond compressor, alt, power stering and etc.
