I believe the shift motor went out on my transfer case. Is there anyway I can take off the motor and put it into 4 wheel manually? Kinda in the middle of an ice storm.
Ok so I'm not sure if this will help or not but I'll give you my best guess as an option. Look at the back of your T-case. You should see a hole with 2H 4H 4L around it. I'm not sure, but I beleive you can put something (Ratchet and extention maybe??) in that hole and turn the dial to take it in and out. This is strictly a guess. You might try googling "Borg-Warner 13-56 T-case" and see what comes up.
Well it was worth a try. I know mine has that on it, but then again mine is a manual shift T-case. I've never fooled with it to know if in fact that hole is a way to shift it from the outside. Seems to me there should be some way to get around it in case the motor went out while driving though.
On my 92 model if I remove the 3 bolts holding the tcase motor on I can put the tcase in 4hi or 4low by turning the small **** sticking out of the tcase . You might try tapping on the electric tcase motor with a screwdriver handle while someone pushes the 4x4 button sometimes that will jar it loose or if you feel mechanical you can take the electric motor case off of the motor and clean the contacts and brushes inside then use some dry lube on it before you put it back together that fixed mine.
